Castles and Crowns

“Even as a child I’ve always been drawn to castles. From before I can even remember I’d been searching for safety, for refuge. This is no doubt what brought me to Buddhist practice. In taking vows, we take refuge in the Buddha’s house. Ironically, this house has no walls. In the castle pieces I look to create places where the mind can rest, surrounded by walls of mass and weight, yet open.”
